About Secular Jewish Funerals
Births. Marriages. Deaths. These Are the Most Important Moments in Our Lives.
I consider it my life’s calling to help people mark these important milestones with words and rituals born from the best of Jewish tradition.
I grew up in Colorado, and my earliest background is in the Conservative movement. My under-graduate degree is in journalism, and over the years I also studied in Israel at the Conservative Yeshiva, the University of Haifa, and Ulpan Akiva. I moved to Philadelphia in 2006 to earn a master’s degree in Jewish studies at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. After that, I was ordained as a rabbi by the International Institute of Secular Humanistic Judaism.
I now work as the Rabbi Educator for Mishkan Shalom, a Reconstructionist congregation in Manyunk, Pa. I also offer secular Jewish weddings, funerals, and lifecycle events for unaffiliated Jews, mostly in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
